About this experience
Embark on this epic 6-day Kilimanjaro Lemosho hiking adventure and enjoy thrilling scenic vistas and pristine wildlife on the way to the peak of Africa. This trail would be a great chice for regular hikers or fit travelers who are up to a challenge. Previous high-altitude experience would help to acclimate smoothly but is not mandatory.
You will cross several climatic zones (from heath on Shira Plateau to Arctic desert in the summit area), each different, unique and captivating.
Our professional climbing crews will take care of your safety and comfort. Overnight stays are in our walk-in tents (designed by us and customized for Kilimanjaro), the “kitchen” team will surprise you with their cooking skills, and the porters will carry all equipment. The guides will be leading your way, excitedly sharing their knowledge of this amazing Mount.
Pre and post-climb accommodation (included) will be in a hotel in the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Airport transfers included.

Planning perspective
How I’d plan this experience
A six-day Lemosho climb is a compact, serious commitment: the route starts with a vehicle drop-off high on the mountain, then takes you through changing climatic zones toward the summit. I’d consider it if you’re a regular hiker with moderate fitness, can manage a demanding high-altitude trek, and value an organized, supported expedition. The short schedule is the key trade-off: previous altitude experience may help, but it is not presented as essential, and no support crew can make the physical challenge disappear.
Who this climb suits
This is aimed at fit travellers who are up for a challenge, not a casual walk. The trip information calls for at least moderate fitness and advises against the climb for people with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health. I’d take those limits seriously and think carefully about whether a six-day high-altitude effort suits you.
You’ll have guides and a mountain support crew, with porters carrying equipment and overnight stays in tents. That support can make the logistics more manageable, but it doesn’t turn the climb into an easy option. I’d choose it for the mountain challenge and the changing landscapes, not for comfort alone.
What the six-day format means
The route begins with a vehicle journey to Londorossi Gate, followed by an off-road drive to a drop-off point at 3,500 metres. From there, the first described trek to Shira 2 Camp is a moderate climb. I’d see that early access as a useful feature if you want to start the route high on the western side, but not as a reason to underestimate the altitude.
The itinerary describes a first night at altitude and recommends frequent hydration while avoiding alcohol and caffeine. Previous high-altitude experience may help you acclimatize, though the overview says it is not mandatory. My advice is to treat the schedule as a compressed expedition and arrive ready to follow your guides’ mountain instructions.
Comfort and preparation
The package describes hotel accommodation before and after the climb, walk-in tents on the mountain, and a crew that handles camp setup and cooking. I’d favour this arrangement if you want the practical support of a staffed camp rather than carrying and organizing everything yourself. The first trek day includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner; hotel lunches and dinners are excluded.
You still need to plan for personal hiking gear: the exclusions list your hiking outfit, boots, and sleeping bag, with gear available for hire. Flights, visa fees, mountain-appropriate insurance, and optional crew tips are also outside the inclusions. I’d sort out those essentials before focusing on the scenic promise.
A real trade-off: time versus acclimatization
Six days is the main compromise. You get a demanding route through several climatic zones, but this is not a leisurely itinerary with a long acclimatization period described in the available details. I’d choose a longer climb if you have flexibility and want more time built into your mountain schedule; if you choose this version, be realistic about the effort and the uncertainty inherent in a high-altitude climb.
The available itinerary detail confirms the arrival day and early mountain stages, but does not provide enough information here to compare later daily distances or summit-day timing. I wouldn’t infer a precise pace or promise an outcome from the duration alone.
